Apparently, the RIAA is apparently trying to introduce a new peice of software created by a company named Audible MagicŪ. They think this new program will be able to "tame" p2p type networks where files are being shared (i.e. KaZaA, iMesh, LimeWire, etc). This new software can supposedly track when copyrighted material is passing through the network and stop the transfer from occuring.
Many file sharing companies however, are claiming they can't control copyright infringement on their networks. The RIAA wants these file sharing companies however to add this new code into their programs so that it would make it easier for this new technology to make it's way. Of course, the many file sharing companies are quite opposed to this idea. For more information about this new technology that may soon be implemented into P2P networks, check out http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/08/te...y/08music.html
