works for friend, not for me?

hey i downloaded a hack the other day on my friend's computer and it worked perfectly. i then came home and downloaded the same exact hack and installed it the same way and it won't work! it's one of the hacks that the screen goes red when the mini map is on and you just have to turn the mini map off and then it works fine, but my screen doesn't even turn red so something is obviously wrong here. i don't know a whole lot about computers so if you could "dumb down" your answers for me that would be great lol. and if it matters the game i play is Day of Defeat and i was using the aim1.1 located in the download section on this site. thanks in advance for any help.
